Only Choice of Baba
His Holiness Saint Khapti Maharaj expressed his desire many times before he entered Samadhi (willful
death) that his disciple Anil Bharatey (Aniljee) be the person who will look after all his affairs after him. Whenever
there were discussions about the trust committee, Khapti Maharaj always wanted Aniljee to be President. Aniljee was
one of the few disciples who were very close to Baba. (Khapti Maharaj). Baba would always ask Aniljee to stay in his ashram
in his absense. Aniljee spent many days in ashram to obey the orders of Baba. In fact, Baba who continuously
would be on visit tour rarely visited ashram and would not like any disciple to stay in ashram in his absence, unless
he so ordered.
"Mehfilki Rifle" (leader of the group)
Aniljee would be with Baba not very much caring for his business or financial matters. Some times he would
be with Baba for six months continuously. Baba would take him for the tour many times and would introduce him to many devotees
and their families. Baba would ask him to do any work like sweeping, cooking, painting of ashram, writing poetry or anything
he wanted. Baba would also test him by asking him for money of any amount frequently. Aniljee knew that he was
being tested, because Baba did not require money at all for his expenses. "Beg, borrow or steal", but words of Baba
must be honored, was the policy of Aniljee. Baba would not hesitate to abuse him on face many times whether he makes
mistakes or not. . Baba also used to visit the his home and stay there. Baba liked him very much and used to call him admiringly
, " Mehfilki rife hai". (He is a leader of the group).
An ordeal
It was very difficult to stay with Baba. First of all Baba would allow only a few persons to stay
with him. Irrespective of whether he is old devotee or a stranger, Baba would scold him abuse him or ask him to
get out any moment. He may sometimes speak well too. All the the people were virtually scared of Baba.
Aniljee however, had always a free entry to Baba even when he was annoyed. Always in indignant mood, staying with Baba even
for an hour was an ordeal. But once anybody surrendered him fully, he would enjoy the heavenly pleasure in the company of
Baba.
Baba's way of teaching
Baba would not preach his teachings like a class teacher or a learned Guru. The method was induction
of knowledge. He would change the thinking pattern of anybody by simply thinking about him, blessing him, giving him fruits
of the food from his plate, or just by staring at him or sometimes by making dirty abuses at him. Khapti Maharaj was extremely
powerful, extra ordinary intelligent and astonishingly miraculous Guru. He would immediately understand the thoughts in anybody's
mind and behave and talk to him accordingly in 100 % cases. He would never discuss about spiritual knowledge with anybody.
However, he would deliver his lectures many times, which were hardly followed by anybody. He would deliver the same 15 minutes'
lecture everyday, or 10 times a day or 20 times a day. Aniljee was quite a lucky man that with the blessings of his
Guru, Khapti Baba he could decipher all words and sentences of Baba.
Specially nurtured
Nobody in 85 years of life of Baba as enlightened saint, was so brought up systematically as
he developed Aniljee. He never let Aniljee know that he was teaching and developing him for his future work.
He would take him to the thatched roof houses of poor people and would ask him to stay there and take food. He would
always insult him before his family members and new entrants to Baba's camp. He would take away all monies from his
pocket and would leave him penniless. He would ask him alone, to cook food for 50 persons and every five minutes would
ask if the food was ready? He would tear off the papers if Aniljee would write some prose or poetry about him or on
any spiritual matter.
He would accuse him of many charges without any fault on the part of Aniljee. He would, however, not allow
Aniljee to go away from him and shall console him if Aniljee was sad. He would invite Aniljee manytimes and ask to sit
beside him in programs or on his cot meant for sitting. He brought up Aniljee, giving many experiences of his own power and
taught him without speaking a word. Khapti Baba really wanted that Aniljee to take his message to the world.
Blessings for the mission
Baba had many times blessed and asked him to take up the activities which Baba would like to get done from
his disciples. Baba remained away from public, name and fame for his life time. However, a few years before his Samadhi (death)
he many times expressed his desire before Aniljee to look after all his affairs and see that his teaching be spread everywhere
for welfare of the human beings. Khapti Baba insisted Aniljee many times before Samadhi that he should also take up humanitarian
work like building and opening Hospital, Schools, libraries, asylums, efforts for gainful employment of young boys and girls
etc. for the poor people. He expressed is will that a hospital or school be named after him.Baba treated Aniljee as kith and
kin, not only a disciple or devotee and always blessed him..
"Shivratri Yatra" (annual function)
All the 15 years Khapti Maharaj entrusted the job of looking after the management of annual function
to Aniljee. Almost 10,000 people visit this three day function every year. Baba would ask Aniljee much earlier before the
dates of function, to stay at ashram and make the arrangements, Sometimes Baba would ask Mangala wife of Aniljee
to accompany him in the ashram. The couple would make the arrangements and would also contribute to the work with physical
labor very happily. Baba had such a great trust in Aniljee, that when Aniljee attended the ashram for arrangements, Baba would
be free to continue his visit tour without bothering for arrangements in ashram including finance
arrangements, It was not a practice of Baba to appreciate anybody and offer gratitude. Aniljee was
perhaps the only person whom Baba praised once or twice in 15 years, with the words,
"You have fulfilled all my desires"
There can not be any more blessing to anybody
given by Baba in his life time.
